Firewood
Wood is sold by
the cord or fraction of a cord.
One cord of wood = 4' wide x 4' high x 8' long for a total volume of
128 cubic feet. Be aware of what kind of wood is
being sold, how
it's cut and when it was cut before purchasing. Hard woods are best
for slow burning. Mixing partially seasoned with fully seasoned
wood is the best value. Avoid pine wood. The sap in pine builds up inside chimneys as creosote which under intense heat can ignite causing a chimney fire.
