page is a one stop shop for in state and out of state residents and
guests to obtain the proper licensing necessary to improve septic systems, build or improve coastal erosion protective measures, drive a vehicle,
operate a watercraft, fish, lobster and harvest shellfish legally in Duxbury and Plymouth Massachusetts. Why wait in line when you can do it online? CAN I JUST DRIVE THROUGH?
This small private community is very wary of uninvited and curious guests. If you are 'looking around' you may appear to be suspicious and could be reported for trespassing. If a crime is committed during the time that you are driving through it could create unexpected interest from local authorities.
CAN I FISH AND GO CLAMMING?
Unlike many beaches Gurnet and Saquish homeowners own all the beach below the high tide mark. When you visit and park in a little corner where 'you're not bothering anyone' someone still owns and pays taxes on that property. You're likely trespassing. Fishing and clamming require licenses and can be obtained from various government agencies. But Gurnet and Saquish are not part of Duxbury so no Duxbury passes, permits or licenses are valid and Plymouth permits apply if you are a resident. Gurnet Saquish is private property.
CAN I KAYAK OR COME ASHORE IF I STAY ON THE BEACH?
They may not look like front and back yards but that's exactly what the beaches on Gurnet and Saquish are to the owners that live here. Taxes are high and owners pay dearly for the privilege of not having to look at uninvited boaters coming ashore to eat and too often 'relieve' themselves. It's unpleasant, unsanitary and annoying to have to ask people who don't know that Gurnet and Saquish is virtually entirely private property. Please respect the people and wildlife that live here.
PRIVATE PROPERTY EXTENDS TO THE LOW WATER MARK ON GURNET AND SAQUISH. NO CLAMMING OR PARKING ON PRIVATE PROPERTY.
Visitors to Gurnet and Saquish are not allowed to clam on private property. If you are not a resident and your are clamming on Gurnet and Saquish even if you have the appropriate permit you may be trespassing. Harvesting soft shell clams, (steamers), quahogs, sea clams, razor clams and mussels, is regulated by the Harbormasters for the towns of Plymouth, Duxbury and Marshfield. When red tides occur poisonous toxins are released into the water which are ingested by marine life. When humans eat poisoned marine life, especially shellfish, they can become very ill. The Department of Marine Fisheries closes shellfish beds when these tides occur and posts the closed beds HERE.

days per week throughout the year. The taking of soft shell clams,
quahogs, razor clams and mussels during April, May, September and
October is permitted only two days per week on Wednesdays and Saturdays
after sunrise and before sunset. Children 14 and under can dig for free
in the presence of a permit holder. The limit for daily harvest is six
